Symphonic & Chamber Orchestra
Audition required. Large amounts of time outside of class will be required for rehearsal, performance, competition, auditions, fundraising, travel, and other activities. Scholars are required to have their own instruments and equipment.
Concert Orchestra
This class is intended for musicians who have been playing for two years or less at the start of the new school year. Woodwind, brass, and strings players (including one pianist) will be allowed to join this performing group. A significant amount of time outside of class will be required for rehearsals, fundraising, competitions, and other field trips and activities.
Beginning Orchestra
This class is intended for scholars who have been playing their instrument for less than two years at the start of the school year. Wind and string players are welcome in this group. Some time outside of class is required.
ALL scholars in this group are required to have Book 1 of the Hal Leonard Essential Elements series for their instrument.
All scholars are required to obtain their own instruments and equipment. Instruments may be rented from Music and Arts, Milano's, or Sam Ash. Inexpensive instruments can often be purchased on Craigslist or other internet resale sites.

All woodwind players must have:
- An instrument (including a mouthpiece and neckstrap if needed)
- A case
- Reeds (strength 1.5 or 2 is appropriate for beginners) Please plan on using one reed every two to three weeks.
- Cork grease (not for flutes or piccolos)

All brass players must have:
- An instrument (including a mouthpiece)
- A case
- Valve oil
- Tuning slide grease

All strings players must have:
- An instrument
- A case
- A bow
- An extra set of strings
- Rosin (light rosin for smaller instruments, dark rosin for larger ones)
